Randleman Senior Kylie Vaughn has signed with Guilford College to continue her academic and volleyball career.
A multi-sport stand-out including appearances in regional tennis and state track & field, Vaughn will join a Guilford Quaker team which is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Providence Grove senior Makayla McClain has committed to Campbell University for softball. An All-State selection as a junior, McClain has a .547 career batting average with nine home runs.
The Campbell Camels compete in the Big South Conference.

Wheatmore senior Spencer Hall has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and swimming career at Milligan University in Elizabethton, TN. Hall has qualified for the state championship meet in each of his first three years.
The Milligan Buffaloes are members of the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Luke Thomas, a senior at Providence Grove, has signed with UNC-Greensboro for baseball. Thomas has played three seasons at the varsity level and was named to the All Piedmont Athletic Conference team as a junior.
The UNC-G Spartans compete in the Southern Conference.

Ashley Avelino, Faith Christian School graduate ('18) and UNC-G senior, has been named to the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team. Avelino was the only Spartan named to the team.

November 10, 2021 – WINTER SPORTS
The last of the fall sports (football and soccer) are still in their state tournaments but winter sports have already begun. Basketball season for high schools which do not field football teams officially began Monday. All schools in the NCHSAA can start wrestling and swimming competition this coming Monday, November 15 while schools with football can begin basketball on Monday, November 22.
Locally, Uwharrie Charter Academy has their season opener in basketball scheduled for this Friday. All eight public school wrestling teams will see action at some point next week and most have at least one basketball game scheduled during the week of Thanksgiving.
Once again, Covid protocols should be kept in mind when traveling to games as guidelines still vary from location to location.
Asheboro High School has published their protocols for indoor sports this winter:
1. Players actively in the game are not required to wear masks.
2. Athletes and other participants on the team bench are encouraged to wear a mask and sit 3 feet from each other to maintain social distancing
3. Coaches are not required to wear masks, but it is recommended.
4. Spectators are required to wear a mask.
Due to construction and renovation work at AHS, the Blue Comets will host basketball at the Recreation Center Gymnasium on North Street.

The playoffs continue Thursday for two local soccer teams and culminates Saturday for cross country and volleyball.
Uwharrie Charter will host Carver High School in the second round of the men's soccer playoffs while Trinity travels to Pine Lake Prep in Mooresville.
Thirteen runners from Randolph County will be competing in the cross country championship meet Saturday at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville. More details, including race times, can be found on the SPORTSTONE CROSS COUNTRY page.
In football, Eastern Randolph has a bye into the second round but three county teams will play in the opening round with home games for Providence Grove and Southwestern Randolph and Randleman traveling to Reidsville.
