Single hits for Caleb Walker (run), Josh Meadows (rbi, 2 runs), Tatum Marsh (double, rbi, run) and Alex Martinez (rbi, run). Tanner Marsh pitched into the third inning before giving way to Caleb Walker who got the win.

May 30, 2021 – HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
Sports continue but some area seniors have already finished their time in high school classrooms.
Randolph County Early College High School graduated on May 21 and seniors at Uwharrie Charter Academy received diplomas on Friday, May 28. Faith Christian School and Fayetteville Street Christian School have completed the school year and that leaves the traditional high schools in the Randolph County School System and Asheboro High School.
Randolph County Schools will hold commencement exercises this Wednesday, June 2nd and Asheboro on Thursday, June 3rd.

May 23, 2021 – ALL-STAR BASKETBALL
Jonathan Foust has been selected to take part in the 2021 East-West All-Star Basketball Game presented by the North Carolina Coaches Association. The 6' 3” Providence Grove senior will be a part of the West All-Stars for the annual event on Monday, July 19 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The East-West All-Star Basketball Game was first played in 1949. Last year's event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference has announced All-Conference teams for Men's Tennis and Golf, Women's Golf and Soccer, Softball and Cheerleading.
Several Randolph County student-athletes and coaches received special accolades including Men's Golfer of the Year - Alex Martin (SWR), Defensive Player of the Year in Women's Soccer - Alex Bagley (SWR), Women's Golfer of the Year – Salem Lee (AHS), Softball Player of the Year - Alex Coleman (SWR) and Softball Coach of the Year - Chad Whitson (SWR).

Nicole Cox (ER '18) has been named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Team. The junior outfielder at Emory & Henry College batted .358 this season while committing just one error defensively.

Cox, Hailey Mince (WHS '18) and Anna Thomas (PG '18) helped the 15th ranked Wasps open the NCAA Divivion III Softball Tournament with a 4-0 win Friday over Bridgewater State (MA). Mince was 2 for 3 at the plate with an rbi and a run scored. The Wasps are seeded #2 in their regional and will face #4 seed Emmanuel College (MA) in a Saturday afternoon game in Seguin, Texas.

Trinity High School recently held a signing day for Zach Allman and his family. Zach has committed to Greensboro College in the fall as a kicker.
A four year varsity soccer player, Zach also played basketball and baseball. In 2021, he played football for Trinity and had success as he joined the team after the soccer season ended.
The Greensboro College Pride are members of the USA South Athletic Conference.

Trevor Marsh (AHS '19) has been named Player of the Week in Colonial Athletic Association baseball. The red-shirt freshman led the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks to a weekend sweep over College of Charleston to clinch the division with a week remaining in the regular season.

Trinity senior Noah Allen has committed to Brevard College for football. Noah was a captain for the Bulldogs football team and a vital part to the development of the younger student-athletes. Noah was a four year player in football as well as a member of the Trinity track & field team.

In addition to numerous basketball awards over the years, Lauren LaPlant (SWR '16) has been named to the Academic All-District III First Team for her work in the classroom at Western Carolina University. From WHS: Tonight the warriors traveled to Croatan High School for the 2nd round of the playoffs and fell short in the "golden goal" round of overtime, losing to Croatan 3-2.
Our goals were hard fought and the girls came from behind. Goals by Summer Bowman off a penalty kick and Ellie Garrison
Victoria Lowe was in goal tonight and had 5 saves.
This was a remarkable year for these girls who went undefeated in regular season!

SWR: Home runs by Caressa King (rbi, 2 runs) and Molly Strider (2 rbi, run) helped power the Cougars. Two hits for Gracie Ward (rbi) and Alex Coleman (double, rbi, 2 runs). Single hits by Lindsi Brown (rbi, run) and Alley Lowe (rbi). Lindsey Beck got the win.

ER: Savannah Beaver and Addie Flinchum combined in the 3 hit shutout. Winning pitcher Beaver gave up 1 hit in 3 innings before giving way to Flinchum who also gave up 2 hits.
Offensively, five wildcats had 2 hits each: Courtnee Carter (rbi, 2 runs), Savannah Beaver (2 triples, 2 rbi, 2 runs), Skylar Pugh (triple, 3 runs), Logan Beaver (double, 3 rbi) and Ziera Watson (rbi, run).

May 1, 2021 – Softball & Women's Soccer Playoffs
Four Randolph County Softball teams and two Women's Soccer teams have qualified for the state playoffs which begin next week. First round games in both sports are scheduled for Monday, May 3.
In softball, Mid-Piedmont Conference Co-Champion Southwestern Randolph lost the tie-breaker game for the conference's automatic bid but qualified as a wild card team. The 15th seeded Cougars (8-4) travel to #2 Orange (12-0), champions of the Big 8 Conference.
PAC 7 Champion Eastern Randolph (13-1) is seeded 6th in the 2A East Region and will host #11 West Bladen (10-4) which finished in a three-way tie for second place in the Three Rivers 1A/2A Conference. PAC 7 runner-up Randleman (10-2) is seeded 12 and will travel to 5th seed South Lenoir (12-2), Co-Champions of the Eastern Carolina Conference.
In the 1A West Region, Uwharrie Charter Academy (6-3) is the 11 seed and will open the playoffs at #6 Polk County (5-8). The Wolverines were the highest 1A team in the 1A/2A Western Highlands Conference.
SPORTSTONE SOFTBALL
Wheatmore soccer won the PAC 7 Women's Championship and have been seeded 7th in the 2A East Region. The Warriors (10-0) will host #10 East Duplin (11-2), Co-Champions of the East Central Conference.
Uwharrie Charter Academy (6-3) finished second in the Yadkin Valley Conference and the 9th seeded Eagles will travel to #9 Bishop McGuinness (11-3) which finished first in the Northwest Conference.
