July 29, 2021 – MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL
Four American Legion Baseball programs have qualified for the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Regional in addition to the host team Randolph County Post 45.
Allentown has won the New Jersey State Championship for the program's first ever state title and will represent the Garden State in next week's regional tournament at McCrary Park. Allentown defeated 2019 champion Brooklawn 5-2 in the title game.
Norchester, Pennsylvania also won their first state championship this week and will be making the program's third regional appearance. Norchester defeated Paxton 4-3 in the State Championship game and, since Pennsylvania gets two representatives in this year's regional, Paxton will also be headed to Asheboro.
Delaware Post 1 from Wilmington won the Delaware State Championship this evening which leaves three more slots to be filled in this year's tournament field. The Maryland championship is scheduled to conclude Friday, the Virginia championship Saturday and the North Carolina champion will be decided Sunday.
The Mid-Atlantic Regional begins Wednesday, August 4.

July 27, 2021 – McCRARY PARK RENOVATIONS
The Asheboro City Council has begun the process of bringing renovations and upgrades to Historic McCrary Park.
A special meeting of the Council was held on Thursday, July 22 to review and discuss a report submitted by an architect/design professional for the park. At this week's regular meeting the Council agreed to continue looking into the project which, according to the City website, “will improve the safety and comfort of both spectators and players and includes new grandstands, parking, plaza and concessions, a locker room building, dugouts, and other fan and team amenities.”
The City is working with CPL: Architecture, Engineering, Planning on the project.

Rowan County 9, High Point 8 (Rowan wins series 2-0)
Kannapolis 5, Randolph County 1 (Kannapolis wins series 2-0)
Randolph County could only manage three hits, singles by Blake Marsh and Parker LaPlant along with a double by Adam Cole. LaPlant scored the Post 45 run on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Walker.
LaPlant took the loss. Michael Gracer got the complete game win for Kannapolis.
Post 45 will return to action as host of the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Regional in two weeks. Kannapolis will play for the Area III Championship this weekend and advance to the State Championship Tournament next week in Cherryville.

Kannapolis 18, Randolph County 16 (10) (Kannapolis leads 1-0)
Game One featured 34 runs on 34 hits in ten innings of baseball at McCrary Park. There were also 31 rbi, 27 runners left on base, 24 walks, 20 strikeouts, 16 players with hits, 11 different pitchers, 9 wild pitches, 8 stolen bases, 7 doubles, 4 errors and 2 home runs. And 93 at-bats.
Cale Oehler for Kannapolis and Tatum Marsh for Randolph County had the home runs.
Six players recorded three hits in a game which saw Post 45 leading 8-1 after four innings; Post 115 up 11-9 after six innings; the teams tied 14-14 after seven innings and 16-16 after nine innings.
The fourth and final pitcher of the night for Kannapolis Post 115, Luke Anderson, worked 3.2 innings and got the win.
Cam Fordham was the sixth of seven pitchers used by Randolph County Post 45 and took the loss after 1.3 innings on the mound.
Game Two in the best-of-three series is scheduled for 7 pm Wednesday at Northwest Cabarrus High School in Kannapolis.

MEN East 116, West 92
Jonathan Foust (PGHS '21) participated in the East-West All-Star Basketball Game last night at the Greensboro Coliseum. Foust and Daniel Cooper from Grimsley led the West team in rebounding with 12 each.
Foust also contributed 7 points and 3 assists in the game.
EAST-WEST MEN'S BOX SCORE
Tuesday night, East-West All-Star Soccer matches are scheduled for MacPherson Stadium in Browns Summit with women playing at 6:30 and the men's match at 8:30.
The 2021 All-Star Football game will kick off at 8:00 pm Wednesday in Jamieson Stadium at Grimsley High School.

Except for 2020 (due to COVID-19), a North Carolina East-West All-Star Basketball Game has been played annually since 1949.
Jonathan Foust, a recent graduate of Providence Grove High School, has been selected to take part in this year's event which will take place tonight in the Greensboro Coliseum. Foust is one of 20 players selected for the event and will be on the West team.
The East-West All-Star Basketball Game is presented by the North Carolina Coaches Association and begins with the women's game at 6:30 pm, followed by the men's game about 8:30 pm.
Tuesday night, East-West All-Star Soccer matches are scheduled for MacPherson Stadium in Browns Summit with women playing at 6:30 and the men's match at 8:30.
The 2021 All-Star Football game will kick off at 8:00 pm Wednesday in Jamieson Stadium at Grimsley High School.

Braxton Davis pitched 4.1 innings in the regular season finale giving up three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in the run-rule win. Coleman Burris finished the game by coaxing a double-play from Davidson County in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Eight Randolph County players had hits, led by Tatum Marsh and Tanner Marsh with three apiece. Harris Jackson hit a triple while Caleb Walker, Braxton Davis, Tanner Marsh, Tatum Marsh and Blake Marsh all recorded doubles.
Sunday is the final playing date for Area III baseball. Monday is an open date and the area playoffs will begin Tuesday.

Davidson County 10, Eastern Randolph 0
Post 81 was unable to get a hit when they needed one, leaving the bases loaded in each of the first two innings and a total of six runners in scoring position through five innings.
Travis Boone was two-for-two. Ethan Frye had a hit and Aulden Richardson had a double.
Boone was the starting pitcher and took the loss. Carson Burnette and Jordan Burrough also saw time on the mound.
Davidson County 10, Eastern Randolph 5
Post 81 scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of the nightcap but couldn't keep the rally going. Trevor Golden had two hits while Carson Burnette and Aulden Richardson both recorded doubles.
Maddox Smith pitched 5.2 innings and took the loss. Aulden Richardson worked the final inning and a third.
Greensboro 6, Randolph County 5
After falling behind 6-1, Randolph County scored the final four runs of the game but the comeback ended there.
Post 45 got multiple hits from Tatum Marsh, Tanner Marsh, Harris Jackson and Braxton Davis. Parker LaPlant and Tatum Marsh threw three innings each with LaPlant taking the loss.

For the second time this season, Post 45 managed an extra-inning win over Post 81 at McCrary Park.
Tatum Marsh had two hits and scored two runs, including the game winner on a passed ball, to lead the Randolph County offense. Blake Marsh and Tanner Marsh (triple, rbi) also had hits for Post 45.
Eastern Randolph got hits from Aiden Allred, Brodie Gardner, Trevor Golden, Jordan Burrough and Aulden Richardson.
Hunter Hill gave up the two runs on three hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Tanner Marsh pitched the final 1.3 innings and got the win.
Trevor Golden pitched the complete game for Eastern Randolph giving up three runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
On June 18, Randolph County recorded a come-from-behind 10-9 win over Eastern Randolph in a non-division game which also went 8 innings.

Blake Marsh was 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, an rbi and a run scored. Randolph County got two hits each from Tanner Marsh (rbi, run) and Adam Cole (run scored). Tatum Marsh hit a double and Parker LaPlant a triple.
Four pitchers saw action including Robert Garner who started the game and took the loss, Caleb Walker, Cameron Fordham and Coleman Burris.

Post 45 led from the first inning but scored 10 runs over the sixth and seventh to break open a close game and get the win.
Tatum Marsh (1 rbi, 3 runs scored) and Parker LaPlant (3 rbi) had three hits each for Randolph. Braxton Davis (3 rbi, 2 runs) and Tanner Marsh (rbi, 2 runs) had two hits each with Davis recording an inside-the-park home run. Post 45 had 17 hits.
LaPlant pitched 5 innings and got the win. Tanner Marsh, Adam Cole and Coleman Burris also saw action on the mound.

A fourth inning grand slam by Julian Abreu extended the High Point-Thomasville lead to 9-2 and Post 87 was able to hold on to create a tie at the top of the Northern Division standings as both teams ended the game with 4-1 division records.
Blake Marsh had two hits for Randolph County with an rbi and a run scored. Post 45 got rbi from Parker LaPlant, Braxton Davis and Alex Martinez.
Hunter Hill took the loss giving up 7 runs in 3.1 innings. Tatum Marsh finished the fourth inning and Braxton Davis the final three innings.

Post 45 registered 18 hits in the non-division game Led by Blake Marsh with a 5-for-5 night. Blake drove in two and scored twice on four singles and a triple. Tatum Marsh had three hits, including two doubles, with two rbi and Randolph got multiple hits from Harris Jackson (3 rbi), Tanner Marsh (2 rbi) and Alex Martinez (rbi, 2 runs).
Cameron Fordham got the start and pitched 4 innings. He was followed on the mound by Harris Jackson, Blake Marsh and Tanner Marsh. Jackson got the win.

Randolph County led 5-0 after 1 inning but broke a 6-6 tie by scoring the final five runs of the game.
Blake Marsh and Tanner Marsh each had 3 hits. Blake had 2 doubles and scored twice while Tanner had a double and 3 rbi. Parker LaPlant had 2 doubles and 6 other post 45 players had 1 hit each.
Robert Garner pitched 4 innings and got the win (6 runs (3 earned), 10 hits, 3 strikeouts). Tatum Marsh pitched the final 2 innings (2 hits, 2 walks, 3 strikeouts).
Wayne County 10, Randolph County 2
Post 45 only managed 3 hits in the second game by Adam Cole, Blake Marsh (double, run scored) and Tanner Marsh (double, rbi). Harris Jackson scored the second run.
Caleb Walker made his first appearance on the mound for Randolph but gave way to Coleman Burris after Wayne County scored 8 unearned runs in the second inning. Walker gave up 10 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks. Burris pitched 5.1 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.
