From AHS: Three Asheboro High School cross country athletes were awarded medals and T-shirts for top-10 finishes in the Vac 'n' Dash Cross Country Clash on Thursday at Chuck Morehead Park in Albemarle. The annual event featured teams from across the central Piedmont.
The Comet boys placed fifth overall, with junior Seth Hydzik finishing first for the Comets and sixth overall. The girls' team placed second overall, led by sophomore Sophia Roman and freshman Malaika Khan. The pair finished first and second respectively for the Comets, and fourth and sixth overall.
Other scorers for the boys were Brandon Aguilar, Hunter Wilson, Luis Martinez and Nelson Goad. For the girls, other scorers were Liberty Adams, Carlisle Dozier and Emma Redding.

From WHS: Wheatmore cross country traveled to South Davidson on Tuesday, 9/14 for a 5-team meet featuring conference rivals Trinity and Uwharrie Charter. The Warrior boys continued their undefeated streak with another win to advance to 3-0 for the season.
Personal records were set by Zach Hazelwood, Jimmy Smith, Christian Hildreth, Parker Kines, Juan Morales, Jonathan Heraldo, Tyler Wall, Preston Jones, Brianna Hill, Mattie Foshie, and Emily Cribbs.
Warriors cross country will run at Pfeiffer on Saturday 9/18.

PG: Zane Cheek had 13 carries for 178 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Rogers had nine carries for 31 yards. Luke Thomas completed 8 of 13 passes for 148 yards and two scores. Rogers had 76 receiving yards with a touchdown and Zander Cheek had 67 receiving yards. Lemuel Coletrane caught one pass for six yards and a touchdown.
Karson Bowman returned a fumble 12 yards for a score. Tucker Batten was 4 for 4 in PAT kicks.
AHS: Michael Brady had 21 carries for 136 yards. Markell Graham caught five passes for 38 yards. Khyland Hadley-Lindsey and Charles Perry recorded rushing touchdowns. Hadley-Lindsey completed a pass to Tyshaun Goldston for a two point conversion.

WHS: Ben Walker completed 17 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Jonathan Kelly had 5 catches for 58 yards and a score. Dylan Weil had 5 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown and two conversions. Kelly (10 carries, 85 yards) scored two rushing touchdowns. Perry Welch rushed eight times for 53 yards. Reece Linton recorded a blocked punt.

SWR: The Cougars scored on their first eight possessions with rushing scores by Adam Cole (3), Easton Clapp (2) and Keaton Reed. Reed was 10 for 18 passing with touchdown catches by Cole and Bryson Reid. Francisco Calderon was 6 for 6 in PAT kicks with Clapp catching a pass (Reed) for a two-point conversion.

THS: David Makupson had touchdown runs of 21, 16 and 30 yards with a 32 yard touchdown reception to lead the Bulldogs. Bo Gibson rushed for 2 touchdowns and Landon Carter caught a pass for a score along with 3 interceptions in the game.

Luke Thomas was 9 for 11 passing, all in the first half, for 202 yards with two touchdown passes to Cheek and one to Caleb Rogers.
Rushing touchdowns were scored by Rogers (4 carries, 50 yards), Logan Fox (4 carries, 29 yards) and Zane Cheek (3 carries, 138 yards).
