AHS: Josh Meadows hit a 3-run home run and Tanner Marsh a 2-run homer for the Blue Comets. Marsh pitched 4 innings and got the win before giving way to Amare Godwin for an inning and Davis Gore who worked 2 innings and got the save.
Randleman 5, Uwharrie Charter 0
RHS: Caleb Dunn had 3 hits with an rbi and John Kirkpatrick drove in 2 runs on 2 hits. Austin Lemons struck out 14 in the complete game win (6 hits, 1 walk).
UCA: Carter Brown had 2 hits for the Eagles. Jake Hunter pitched 5 innings and took the loss (5 runs (4 er) on 10 hits with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Caleb Stickle pitched the final innings.

The Timberwolves built a 10-3 lead through the first six innings and Asheboro's seventh inning rally fell short as the Blue Comets plated 5 runs in the bottom of the final inning.
AHS: Morgan Coward was 2-for-3 with a double, rbi and three runs scored. Nubia Terry was 1-for-2 with a home run and two runs scored. Makena Ayers had 2hits with one run scored and an rbi. Sarah Hildreth hit a grand slam in the seventh inning.

SWR: Hits by Alyssa Harris (double, rbi, run), Kami Dunn (rbi, run) and Madelyn Smith (rbi, 3 runs). Haleigh Thompson faced 1 over the minimum (error) with 9 strikeouts in 3 innings.

From AHS: The entire AHS squad played a great game. Madison Luck anchored the midfield with her poise and experience, and Penny Smith added to the attack, while Natasha Mederos, Emma Julian, Itzel Macias, and Samantha Goicochea, and Chloe Chanmaly all played a very solid night on the back line.
The Blue Comets played a phenomenal game, outshooting JM 23 to 10 with the goal by Tess Moody off a pass from Jaira Arellano.
Carlisle Dozier had a solid 10 saves in goal for the Blue Comets.
March 31 - COLLEGE COMMITMENTS
Southwestern Randolph's Eli Gravely has signed with North Carolina Central University for football. A two-time All-Conference selection, Gravely will be joining an Eagles team which is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and finished the 2022 season with a bowl win and the program's highest ever FCS ranking (#17).
Eastern Randolph senior Mason Sechrest has committed to Winston-Salem State University to continue his academic and football careers. Sechrest was twice selected All-Conference as a lineman and joins a WSSU Rams team which competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Wildcat Stratton Barwick will be attending Guilford College with commitments to both football and baseball. An All-Conference selection in both sports, Barwick will join the Quakers in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

March 27, 2023 – COLLEGE SIGNING
Trinity High School held a signing day for Autumn Gentry last week as she signed to play basketball at Bridgewater College in the fall.
Autumn finished her high school career as the all-time leading scorer for Trinity women's basketball and was a four-time selection as PAC-7 All-Conference. She was also voted onto the NCBCA All-District second team this year and Autumn advanced to the state championship tournament in women's tennis as a senior.
The Bridgewater College Eagles in Bridgewater, Virginia compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

March 21, 2023 – BASKETBALL HONORS
Eastern Randolph senior Brecken Snotherly has been honored by the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association as a member of the 2023 women's All-State Team. Snotherly averaged 30.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 3.0 assists per game this season while leading the Wildcats to the third round of the playoffs and a 19-8 record.
All-State Basketball teams recognize the top 15 high school players in the state from all classifications.

Maddie Flinchum recently signed with Pfeiffer University to continue her softball and academic career. The Providence Grove senior was named All-Conference and All-District following her junior season in which she hit for a .435 average.
As with all of this year's graduates who participate in spring sports, Maddie's freshman year ended after two weeks due to CoVID (3 games played) and her second season was an abbreviated one (12 games for PG softball).
The Pfeiffer Falcons are members of the USA South Athletic Conference.

March 13, 2023 – ALUMNI HONORS
Ethan Oakley (WHS '20), redshirt freshman at Appalachian State University, was recently named to the All-Conference Wrestling Team and received the Southern Conference Pinnacle Award for having the highest grade point average on the conference champion wrestling team.
Oakley has qualified as the first alternate in the 133 pound division for the 2023 NCAA Championships which will take place in Tulsa, OK this Thursday-Saturday. He may be the first Randolph County wrestler to reach that point at the Division 1 level.
InterMat Wrestling ranks Oakley at #23 in his weight class in D1 wrestling (as of March 7). He went 8-0 in conference matches and 20-10 for the season.

Southwestern Randolph's Adam Cole has committed to East Carolina University as a Preferred Walk-on in football. A 3-time All-Conference player in football, Cole has also been named All-Conference in baseball after his first two seasons – there was no baseball in 2020 due to Covid.
East Carolina is a member of the American Athletic Conference.

March 6, 2023 – BASKETBALL ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
Eastern Randolph's Brecken Snotherly has been named the District 8 Player of the Year in women's basketball and Trinity's Dominic Payne Player of the Year in men's basketball by the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association.
The Association has named eleven Randolph County players to the All-District Teams for District 8. For the second consecutive year, the Association also voted Randleman's Brandon Varner as Coach of the Year in Women's Basketball for District 8.
Along with Snotherly, local players named to the All-District Women's Teams include Gracyn Hall (Randleman), Elizabeth York (Randleman), Ashara Spruill (Uwharrie Charter) and Autumn Gentry (Trinity).
All-District selections to the men's teams include Payne, Jerquarius Stanback (Asheboro), Ashton Troutman (Uwharrie Charter), DaVonte Brooks (Eastern Randolph), Tyshaun Goldston (Randleman) and Sean Adkins (Southwestern Randlph).
Players and Coaches are chosen from among NCBCA member schools of all classifications in each district. District 8 includes Randolph, Davidson, Montgomery, Stanly and Union Counties.
DISTRICT 8 - BASKETBALL ALL-DISTRICT
From THS: The NCBCA announced their All District teams this morning. Trinity High School was excited to see that Dominic Payne was voted the District 8 Player of the Year for the 2022-2023 School year. Dominic had a great year for the Bulldogs averaging 27.5 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game and 5.1 assists per game. Dom also crossed the 1,000 point threshold for his career and led the bulldogs to a 21-8 record. We are excited to see Dominic continue to grow as he finishes his junior year and gets ready for his senior season.
Trinity was also excited to see Autumn Gentry selected to the 2nd Team All District team. Autumn was an amazing player for the Bulldogs over the last four years and had a great senior season. Autumn broke the THS Scoring record with over 1500 points in her career. She averaged 19.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 2.6 apg. We are excited to see Autumn continue playing basketball next year at the college level and will have a signing day soon.

AHS: Tanner Marsh and Ben Luck had 2 hits each. Single hits for Davis Gore (rbi), Josh Meadows and Chandler Macon (rbi).
Macon struck out 4 in 4 innings pitched. Cohen Caviness worked 2.1 innings with a strikeout and got the win. Tanner Marsh got the save.
Eastern Guilford 5, Eastern Randolph 4
ER: Lucas Smith had 2 hits with 2 runs scored. Single hits by Ray West (rbi), Nick Brady (rbi), Samuel Asbil (rbi, run) and Cameron David (rbi).
Stratton Barwick struck out 10 in 6 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs allowed. Kahlin Graham took the loss.
Central Davidson 6, Uwharrie Charter 1
UCA: The Eagles got hits from Walker Wilkins, Ben Medinger, Caleb McDaniel and Landon Zephir (rbi). Jake Hunter took the loss with 4.2 innings pitched. Zephir and Carter Brown also saw time on the mound.
SW Randolph 12, Montgomery Central 4
SWR: Eli Gravely had 3 hits (double, 4 rbi, run) to lead the offense. Tyler Parks (2 doubles, 2 rbi, 2 runs) and Brady Armfield (2 doubles, rbi, run) had 2 hits each.
Armfield pitched 4.2 innings for the win with 4 hits and 9 strikeouts. Grant Little struck out 6 in 2.1 innings.
Wheatmore 4, West Davidson 1
WHS: Jonathan Heraldo started on the mound giving up 1 run on 4 hits with a strikeout in 3 innings. Mason Rich gave up 1 hit with 10 strikeouts in 4 innings of relief.
Parker Kines, Jake Parks (2 rbi) and Ayden Byrd (2 rbi) had a hit each.

WHS: Savannah Heiney went 3-for-3 (triple) and scored 3 runs. There were single hits by Carmen Turgeon (double, run), Arielle Turgeon (rbi), Samantha Bugg and Zoey Bugg (2 rbi).
Carmen Turgeon struck out 12 in 8 innings allowing 2 runs on 9 hits.
Eastern Randolph 12, Jordan-Matthews 2
ER: Logann Beaver had 3 hits (double) with 3 rbi and a run scored. Madison Canoy (double) and Addie Flinchum (3 runs) had 2 hits each. Ayanna Mears recorded a 3-run home run.
Skylar Pugh pitched 4.1 innings and got the win allowing 1 hit with 10 walks and 10 strikeouts. Addie Flinchum worked 1.2 innings with 1 hit, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

From AHS: The Blue Comet women's soccer team played an intense, well fought match against a very strong Northwood team and came away with a 3-3 tie.
Goals were scored by Tess Moody with 2 and Natasha Mederos with 1. Natalie Flores and Madison Luck each had an assist. Carlisle Dozier played a phenomenal game in goal with 21 saves on the evening.
