Troy won the program's first national championship in 2022 and made it through the Mid-South Region last year for back-to-back appearances in the ALWS in Shelby.
Wayne County celebrated Post 11's first ever North Carolina championship on July 24th in Cherryville and made it to championship day in the Goldsboro-based team's first trip into regional play.
Both teams scored one-at-a-time with Wayne County putting up single runs in the first inning – Davis Albert on a sacrifice fly by Everett Johnson; second inning – Joseph Buckley on a bunt by Drew Sweet; third inning – Johnson on a single by Buckley; and seventh inning – Wyatt Lassiter on a triple by Albert.
Troy's Cody Markham scored in the bottom of the third on a single by Brady Richardson.
Both starting pitchers threw 104 pitches with John McLamb getting the complete game win for Wayne County and Brody Lindsey leaving the game in the seventh with two outs and a runner on base.
This was Troy, Alabama's first loss in the tournament which has sent the Southeast Regional to a fifteenth game at McCrary Park in Asheboro.

Caden Collier singled in Gunner Justice to get Troy on the scoreboard in the second inning then, in the third, Wayne County's Everett Johnson hit his second ground-rule double of the weekend and scored on a ground ball by Drew Sweet and Post 11 was back in front by two runs at 3-1.
The NC lead went to 4-1 in the top of the fourth when Johnson hit a triple to drive in Davis Albert but Troy's Blake Wynn scored in the bottom of the inning on a ground-out by Justice to get back to within two runs.
The Alabama champ tied the game in the sixth when Haze McCorkel scored on a triple by Wynn and Wynn came across thanks to a Matt Snell sacrifice fly.
Neither team scored in the seventh or eighth innings.
Wayne County went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth and the first two Troy batters were retired in the bottom of the ninth were retired but the 2022 National Champions and 2022 and 2023 Mid-South Regional Champions avoided the final out when Collier coaxed a walk, Cody Markham singled to move pinch runner Evan Taylor to third and Cody Walsh singled to drive in Taylor for the winning run. It also earned the win for Walsh who pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth innings in relief.
Troy's Brady Richardson was named Tournament MVP. Richardson was 10-for-22 at the plate scoring five runs and driving in six. He also produced a 1-0 record on the mound going 6.1 innings in Post 70's 8-0 win against Chesapeake, VA Friday night. Richardson gave up 2 hits and 3 walks against 11 strikeouts.
